Newsletter for January 2010

*Next Parents meeting will be February 7th, 4:30pm, at the Arvest Bank East Side building at Adams road and Adams blvd.  All parents are invited and encouraged to participate.  We will be discussing Blue and Gold Banquet along with other topics.

*Pinewood Derby:  Our Pinewood Derby is January 30th.  The car kits are being given to your den leaders tonight.  Kits have been provided by “Parents of Boy Scout Troop 6.”  We are looking for volunteers to help with the weigh-in of the cars and prize judging on Derby Day.  The Derby rules are on the back of this newsletter.  Please remember, you can use only the axels and wheels that come with the kit or replacements purchased from the Scout Service Center.  Solid axels will disqualify a car from competition.  Below is the schedule for race day.

Check-in                     10:00am - 11:00am

Judging                      11:00am - 11:30am

Racing                        11:30am - 1:30pm

Prizes                         1:30pm – 2:00pm

We will have a number of prize categories that include, but are not limited to, Cubs’ choice, adults’ choice, most colorful, edible, fastest looking, most accessorized, least modified, and choice of a 6 year old girl.

*Scouting For Food: This event will be held in January.  Door hanger distribution starts on Jan 23rd.  Food pickup is Jan 30th.  We divided our neighborhood in the January parents meeting.

*Blue and Gold Banquet:  Our Blue and Gold Banquet is coming up on February 15th. The banquet will be held at the American Legion Building.  We will begin setting up at 5:00pm.  We will begin eating at 6:00pm.  We have decided that each den will bring different items for the meal at the January parents meeting.  Each den will bring the following:

                                                            Tigers                         Breads / Rolls

                                                            Wolves                       Vegetables

                                                            Bears                          Lasagnas

                                                            Webelos I                   Vegetables

                                                            Webelos II                  Salads

The pack will provide the paper goods, drinks (lemonade, tea, water), and the cake.

*Recruiting!  Hey, be sure to tell your friends about the fun we have in Cub Scouts.  Invite them to one of our Events!  Let’s encourage our friends to give Cub Scouts a chance!
